Ph.D. PROGRAM: Nanotechnology and Nanoscience

Institute of Nano Science & Technology (INST), Mohali, is inviting applications from eligible prospective applicants for admission into Ph.D. Program in several disciplines of nanotechnology and nanoscience for the session beginning in January 2024. 

Selected students will be offered with Ph.D. fellowship as per the norms of INST and the Government of India. Scholars with an independent source of fellowship, for instance, CSIR/UGC-JRF, are also encouraged to apply. Selected candidates will be registered in the Ph. D. program at the IISER Mohali (Indian Institute of Science Education & Research). 

Qualifications/Requirements

  1. M. Pharm. or M. Tech. or M. Sc. in Sciences, Engineering, or related areas. 
  2. Candidates appearing for the final year examinations are also eligible to apply, provided that the degree should be granted by the time of joining. 
  3. The candidate should have qualified for any national examination (GATE, CSIR/UGC-NET, DST-INSPIRE, JEST, JGEEBILS (TIFR/ NCBS), ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, or GPAT). 

Age limit: As per the guidelines of DST and CSIR-UGC. 

Application Procedure 

  1. Candidates must apply in the prescribed format available. 
  2. Additionally, the candidates must submit an online synopsis. 
  3. A hard copy of the application (affixing a recent passport-size photograph) alongside a self-attested copy of certificates (age, educational qualifications, experience, and reservation category) should be sent to the following: "The Director, Institute of Nano Science &Technology, Knowledge City, Sector 81, Mohali 140306, (Punjab), India.
  4. The application form's envelope should be superscribed as "Application for the Ph. D. Program – January 2024". 
  5. Suitable candidates will be shortlisted for the interview. 
  6. The listing of shortlisted applicants will be uploaded on the INST website. 
  7. Ph.D. interviews will be conducted in person, and the candidates called for the interview will not be paid any TA/DA. 
  8. Selection is based on provisions of The Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006, and amendments made to that.
