50 Postdoctoral positions avaliable at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore

A highly selective postdoc program with 50 positions is offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). In addition, the Indian Institute of Science also has an Institution of Eminence (IoE) Postdoc program.

The Institute invites applications for passionately motivated individuals with an established record of high-quality research for Raman Post-Docs and IoE Post-Docs positions. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and foreign nationals are also eligible to apply for these postdoc positions.

It is a rolling advertisement; applicants can apply any time during the year. In addition, an applicant applies for a specific Centre at the Institute or Department.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree with First Class or equivalent in the preceding degree and a good academic record throughout. Applicants should preferably be less than 32 years of age at the time of application. Applicants who have submitted their thesis may also apply along with proof of thesis submission. In addition, applicants must have successfully defended their thesis at the time of joining.

Tenure
The tenure of the fellowship is one year. In exceptional cases, the term may be increased by one more year.

Emoluments

  • C V Raman Post-Doc Position: Selected applicants will receive a monthly consolidated package of Rs. 1 Lakh (including House Rent Allowance)
  • Research grant of Rs. 8 Lakhs annually 

IoE Post-Doc Position: Selected applicants will receive the following:

  • PhD:  47,000 + House Rent Allowance
  • PhD + 1 year experience 49,000 + House Rent Allowance
  • PhD + 2 years experience 54,000 + House Rent Allowance
  • Research grant of Rs. 3 Lakhs annually.

Additional Information

Applicant should indicate whether the application is only for the C V Raman Post-Doc position, the IoE Postdoc position, or both.

Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and foreign nationals are qualified.
Fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria would not qualify one to be selected. 

The applicant is accountable for the accuracy of the data provided in the application is incorrect or false, the candidature/position is liable to be canceled/terminated.

Selected applicants are expected to conduct research and other duties at IISc only. Therefore, both the CV Raman and IoE postdoctoral positions are non-transferable.

  1. Applicants must first contact a faculty member who is willing to host the candidate in the Institute. 
  2. A consent letter or consent email is necessary from the faculty member as a part of the application package. 
  3. Applicants should apply using the fillable PDF form and the following documents are required along with the application.
  4. Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a list of all publications
  5. Proposed research plan (up to 500 words)
  6. At least 2 and up to 5 critical publications in PDF file format
  7. Consent letter or email from the faculty member. 

PDF file of Ph.D. degree certificate, or provisional Ph.D. degree awarded the certificate, or Ph.D. thesis submitted certificate

Selection Process:

  • Applicants can apply throughout the year. Applications are reviewed once every 3 months, around 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, and 31 December of each calendar year.
  • Applicants can expect a decision within 45 days of the previous review dates.
