The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is the World Academy of Sciences for advancing science in developing countries. The Academy is based in Trieste, Italy. TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) and TWAS have a well-known fellowship program for scholars from developing countries in the South who are keen to pursue research toward a doctoral in a field of the natural and related applied sciences.

Duration of the fellowships: minimum period of 6 months to a maximum period of 12 months.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be permanent residents and citizens of a developing country in the South.
- Applicants from Science and Technology Lagging countries (STLC) and women are especially encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must not hold any temporary or permanent residency visa in Turkey or any developed country.
- Applicants already on site in the host country (Turkey) are not eligible to apply for this fellowship.
- Applicant must hold a master’s or equivalent degree in natural and related applied sciences.
- Applicant to be aged between 35 years to 31 December.
