The Faculty of Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Food Science, Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU), offers a three-year Ph.D. position within the Centre for Industrial Biotechnology (SFI-IB). The position is available in the Protein Engineering and Proteomics (PEP) group. The project aims to characterize, produce and discover fungal enzymes and accessory proteins for enzymatic processing of recalcitrant, under-utilized, non-edible biomass. The project will aim at enzymes and accessory proteins that process lignocellulosic biomass (e.g., forest residues) and keratin-rich biomass (e.g., feathers).

Qualifications and experience:

  • Applicant to hold a relevant master’s degree in biochemistry, microbiology, or biotechnology.
  • Applicant must have proper training at the master’s level in protein chemistry, enzymology, and process biochemistry.
  • Applicant must have a minimum B as the average grade for the MSc studies grades required to be admitted to NMBU’s Ph.D. program.
  • Candidates expecting to finish their M.Sc. studies in the summer of 2023 are also eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must possess experience in fungal biotechnology, particularly protein expression; protein purification, the recombinant production of proteins, and enzymology; proteomics.
  • Applicant must also have documented skills in appropriate analytical methods and bioinformatics.

Applications:
Apply online, and the candidate must upload the following information and documentation:

  • Maximum 1-page cover letter
  • Complete Resume
  • Certified copies of academic diplomas, certificates, and transcripts.
