Biozentrum International Ph.D. program in Molecular Life Sciences calls motivated young scientists worldwide to apply for a Ph.D. student position at the Biozentrum of the University of Basel, Switzerland. Unfortunately, the "Fellowships for Excellence" are only awarded to 10 successful students per open call. Thus, the program is committed to recruiting and identifying only the most exceptional students worldwide.

Qualifications:
- Candidate must hold a Master's degree (Diploma, DEA).
- Before employment, candidates should hold or await the university degree that qualifies them for a Ph.D. program at the University of Basel (M.Sc, Diploma, etc.).
- Only in exceptional cases, brilliant students with a four-year bachelor's degree will be considered for the "Fellowships for Excellence" program. These candidates will have to pass supplementary courses at the Biozentrum after acceptance.
Unique rotation-based choice of lab
The fellowship is independent and not tied to a research group or project. Candidates accepting the fellowship must conduct research in at least two different labs (rotations) at the Biozentrum before they decide on the research group for the Ph.D. thesis (pending approval of the respective group leader). The duration of these rotations is at least two months each. The Ph.D. thesis underlies the general rules and guidelines of the University of Basel, and candidates will automatically be part of the International Ph.D. Program of the Biozentrum. The fellowship is funded for three years and three months.

- CV or scientific résumé (maximum one page)
- Description of research interests and one with a specific focus on a potential Ph.D. thesis at the Biozentrum
- Names and contact information of 2 referees (previous faculty members) are required.
- The referees will be contacted directly and asked for an online evaluation and a reference letter.
