To rationalize the importance of women's workforce in the science & technology (S&T) domain, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has reinstated various "Women Scientists Scheme (WOS)" during 2002-03. One of those schemes is Women Scientists Scheme-A (WOS-A). The scheme provides a platform for women scientists and technologists to research basic or applied sciences in the foremost areas of science and engineering.
Disciplines:
- Physical & Mathematical Sciences (PMS)
- Chemical Sciences (CS)
- Life Sciences (LS)
- Earth & Atmospheric Sciences (EAS)
- Engineering Technology (ET)
Eligibility:
- The minimum requirement to apply is a Post Graduate degree or equivalent to Master’s in Basic or Applied Sciences or B.Tech. or MBBS or other equivalent professional qualifications M.Phil/M.Tech/M.Pharm/M.VSc or equivalent qualifications
- The candidate must hold Ph.D. in Basic or Applied Sciences
- The scheme is open to women of age 27 years till the age of 57 years (5 years of age relaxation is given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and physically challenged category)
Financial support:
- The duration of financial aid is three years.
- Fellowship per month Rs.55,000/- (with HRA as applicable)
- Total Cost of the Project Rs.30 lakh
