SINGA: Singapore International Graduate Award

The SINGA (Singapore International Graduate Award) is an alliance between the A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology & Research), the NTU (Nanyang Technological University), the NUS (National University of Singapore), the SUTD (Singapore University of Technology and Design) and the SMU (Singapore Management University). The doctoral studies shall be carried out in English at the preferred lab (mentioned above). Esteemed and distinguished researchers in these labs will mentor the selected scholars. In addition, one of these institutes, viz., NTU, NUS, SUTD, or SMU, shall confer a Doctoral degree after successful completion.

Singapore is the entranceway to some of the proliferating economies in the Asia Pacific region. And with SINGA, one can carry out a Ph.D. education in Singapore, attain global links and take the research career to greater heights. SINGA offers teaching to a culturally diverse research community of international students. The selected candidate shall work in a multi-cultural environment beside illustrious and distinguished researchers in state-of-the-art facilities.

Eligibility:

  • Applications are open to all international graduates with a zeal for research and excellent academic results. 
  • The SINGA fellowship is envisioned predominantly for first-timer overseas students in Singapore. Native Singaporeans, Permanent Residents of Singapore, and International students studying/who have studied in Singapore tertiary institutions are not eligible.
  • Applicant must possess excellent skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Applicant must provide good reports from academic referees

Fellowship value:
The fellowship duration is up to four years, and financial aid is provided for the same period of Ph.D. studies. The funding includes the following:
Tuition fees

  • The stipend of S$2,200 per month (which increases to S$2,700 after the passing of the Qualifying Examination)
  • Airfare grant of up to S$1,500 (One-time)
  • Settling-in allowance of S$1,000 (One-time)

Applications:
Applications are accepted online; the following documents are required to be uploaded:

  • Valid Passport
  • A recent passport-sized photo
  • Transcripts & Reports (to be translated into English) 
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate academic transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation (to be completed and submitted online by the referees).
  • For NUS applicants, GRE scores are required
  • IELTS/SAT I & II/TOEFL/GATE results (optional)
