Banting fellowships Program: 70 Fellowships by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Canada
Banting fellowship is open for all nationalities and covers several disciplines (field of research).
The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program is an initiative by the Canadian Government to attract and retain top-tier postdoctoral researchers' talent (both nationally and internationally) to contribute to Canada’s economic, social and research-based growth.
Fellowship Details
Number of Fellowships: 70 new awards every year.
Fellowship Amount: 70 000 $ per year.
Duration: Grant is awarded for two years (non-renewable).
Qualifications/Eligibility
- Ph.D. or PhD-equivalent or health professional degree
- Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and also foreign citizens can apply.
- Applicants must not hold tenure-track or tenured faculty positions in any institution.
Selection: Criteria for selecting applications
- Quality and novelty of the proposed research program.
- Research excellence leadership in the research domain.
- Institutional commitment and a demonstrated synergy between the applicant and institutional strategic priorities.

- Choice of Institution (as part of the research proposal and Supervisor’s Statement)
- Research proposal (clearly formulated for a multi-disciplinary committee)
- Bibliography
- Supervisor’s Statement
- References: Referees must extensively develop the sections in the Referee’s Assessment form in ResearchNet.

Timelines
- April to September: a). Applicants should seek endorsement from host institutions to apply. b). prepare and submit applications (institutions may have internal deadlines).
- September: Closing date for complete application submission (online)
- October to December: Screening and Evaluation of applications
- February: Notification of results. Applicants will be informed by email when the results are available.
- April to October: Payments begin.
