The Victoria University of Wellington offers Victoria Doctoral Scholarships yearly. In addition, there are 110 (approximately) fellowships available each year to encourage postgraduate research to begin doctoral studies. These fellowships are conferred on academic merit and are open to New Zealand and international students in any discipline.
Qualifications/Eligibility:
1. The fellowships are open to graduates of any university within or outside of New Zealand who are willing to enroll full time for a Doctorate (Ph.D.) or who have commenced their doctoral study at Victoria University of Wellington.
2. Candidates would be expected to have completed a bachelor's or master's degree with academic distinction equivalent to a First-Class Honours degree.
3. Fellowships will be awarded because of academic merit by the University Research Scholarships Committee, a sub¬ committee of the University Research Committee.
4. If the candidate has already been enrolled for a Ph.D. at Victoria for more than three months when the offer of a scholarship is made, the maximum length of tenure of the Scholarship will be reduced at the decision of the Committee.
Duration of fellowship: Three (03) years
Regulations and conditions
1. A completed online application must be submitted by 4.30 pm on the deadline.
2. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
3. Any required supporting documentation (including references) must also be received on or before the deadline.
4. All offers of the Scholarship will be conditional upon the recipient being fully enrolled in a full-year program within the stipulated criteria and tenure of the Scholarship.
5. The Scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
6. The Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other awards.
