Research Stays by DAAD Germany: Academics and Scientists

DAAD grants provide an opportunity to carry out research and continue education in German Institutes/universities for foreign academics and scientists. This program primarily aims to support short-term research stays and promote the exchange of experience and networking amongst scientists and academicians. This program is for university teachers, established academics, and scientists who have usually completed a Ph.D. degree and work at a university or research institute in their home country.

Funding: Research stays at the state or state-recognized institutions of higher education or non-university research institutes in Germany. Allowance can be claimed only once within three years (funds will not be available for lecture tours or conference visits).

Duration of the funding: 1-3 months; the fellowships are non-renewable.

Fellowship/Grant benefits:

For assistant teachers, professors, and lecturers, a monthly s, stipend of 2,000 euros.
For professors: 2,150 euros/ month
Travel allowance will also be awarded

Convincing and well-planned research project

Qualifications / Eligibility:

Applicants should have obtained their Doctorate.
Eligible candidates must work at a university or institute level of higher education in their home country.
The research project should be coordinated with an academic host institute in Germany.
Language skills: depending on the candidate’s study plans and subjects, arts, social sciences, and law scholars would need at least a valuable knowledge of German. For natural sciences and engineering, proof of good English language skills may also be accepted.

Application deadline

For stays between August (same year) and January (following year): April 15th
For stays between March and July (following year): October 15th
